The Go-Ahead Group has named Ed Wills as the new Managing Director of Brighton & Hove and Metrobus. He will replace Martin Harris, who retires in November.

Ed, who is currently Managing Director for Bus Commercial Development at Go-Ahead, will join Brighton & Hove and on 1 November, to take over as Managing Director at the end of the month.

He brings more than 20 years experience in the passenger transport industry to the role. After training at Southern Vectis on the Isle of Wight, Ed held the position of Operations Director at Go South Coast (2010-2017) where he took responsibility for the commercial and operational performance of buses in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

“Ed brings a wealth of expertise in delivering outstanding bus services for passengers. He understands the industry from top to bottom and he has a track record of commercial success in building and managing bus businesses,” says Go-Ahead Group Chief Executive David Brown.

“Brighton & Hove and Metrobus has bucked the trend across the country by achieving long-term growth in bus passenger numbers. Ed is the ideal person to build on Martin Harris’ fantastic work in serving the local community, in pioneering diversity and in introducing technological innovation.”

Adds Ed: “It’s a privilege to take on this role as we encourage more and more people back onto the buses following the pandemic. I’m looking forward to working with the outstanding team at Brighton & Hove and Metrobus, and to liaising closely with the community.”
