DVSA has outlined how its services – including heavy vehicle testing – will be delivered in England during the four-week period when additional movement restrictions will be in place, which begins on Thursday 5 November.

Authorised testing facilities are not affected by the restrictions. They will remain open and DVSA will continue to provide Vehicle Standards Assessors for heavy vehicle testing. The Agency has reiterated its existing advice that operators should only book vehicles for test close to the date that it is due.

Individual Vehicle Approval services are also unaffected and will be maintained as normal, DVSA has confirmed. Enforcement activity will also continue, but vocational theory tests in England will be suspended and restart on 2 December.

Face-to-face Driver CPC courses will additionally be suspended until that date, but those that are delivered online may continue to be held. Edited on 13 November: DVSA has clarified its position and will now allow face-to-face DCPC courses to take place in England during the period of enhanced restrictions if there is no alternative to doing so.
