Chris Newitt has been named Managing Director of Scania UK. He joins from Jaguar Land Rover, most recently as Global Performance Director, and succeeds James Armstrong. Mr Armstrong has been promoted to the role of Executive Regional Director for Scania Europe North Region.

Mr Newitt’s time in senior positions with Jaguar Land Rover lasted for over a decade and he also has high-level experience with Volkswagen Group UK. He will report to Mr Armstrong, who takes on responsibility for six European markets: Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the Baltic countries.

Speaking about the appointment of Mr Newitt, Mr Armstrong says: “I am delighted to welcome Chris to Scania UK. He has a proven track record and will bring a wealth of experience to one of the most revered positions in the industry.”

Taking up leadership of Scania UK will see Mr Newitt be responsible “for guiding the business through the biggest transition the heavy transport industry has ever seen,” the company says in a statement.

Adds Mr Newitt: “Scania is known around the world for its brand heritage, innovation and deep engineering integrity. It will be my privilege to lead this fantastic company in the UK through what continues to be the most testing time of our generation.

“Renowned for their passion and spirit, the people of Scania UK are the force behind its success. I could not be more excited to join the team continuing to shape the future of this iconic company in the UK.”

Mr Armstrong took up leadership of Scania’s operations in the UK in mid-2021. He previously gained international experience with the Swedish OEM’s businesses elsewhere in Europe and in South East Asia.
